Wondering what to send your husband at work for Valentine's day? Here are my top 5 gift ideas for the faith-based family man.
If your husband is anything like mine, the last thing he wants me to do is go out shopping for him. His love language is acts of service and words of affirmation so gifts in general, no matter how spot on or perfect for him are never going to do it.
But since my love language is gifts I always feel the desire to get him something really special and meaningful. Plus who doesn’t want to enliven their work space a bit.
If you are looking for a meaningful gift and something special to send to your husband at work for Valentine’s Day I have a few of my favorite ideas for you. There are several factors you want to make sure your gift checks:
- office appropriate and is something he would want to display in his work environment
- meaningful & special
- personalized and customized for him
- conveys thoughtfulness and shows respect
We’ve all clicked into the hundreds of gift guide slideshows highlighting quirky, funny or romantic gifts but those have never really steered me in the right direction when it comes to picking out a gift for my husband. Those gift ideas end up feeling very surface level and almost insignificant in light of the life commitment we made to each other over 13 years and 3 children ago. I want a way to express my love and respect for him in a meaningful way that feels special to him.
Framed photo of the kids and yourself - This sounds so simple but take a look around his office or work space. Is there actually an updated, beautiful picture of the kids or yourself? I would pick out a great picture of the kids and then one with just you in it or a picture of the two of you together (but no kids!), get it printed at a photo place and then swing by Michael’s or Target for two frames. You can tie a bow directly around the frames, no wrapping even needed. Just make sure it actually makes it to his office or workspace and doesn’t end up landing somewhere in the house instead (this would totally happen to me!)
Order him lunch at the office - Nobody works well on an empty stomach and yet packing lunch everyday can feel tedious but I know my husband doesn’t like to have to stop working to go scrounge for some take out food. For all those reasons and more, this is such a fun way to spoil him and bring some fun and delight to his day. Drop a hint that he shouldn’t worry about lunch that day and then order in or drop off his favorite meal. Up the cuteness level and send him to work with a cutlery bundle (a fork, knife and spoon wrapped up in a napkin) to pique his curiosity and wet his appetite. Literally.
A photo mug - Not only will he love looking at the family each time he takes a sip of coffee but this will definitely eliminate the issue of anyone else taking and using his mug. There is room on a mug to have a photo and a message so compose something sweet (the kids can help with this!) Fill the mug with his favorite candy and wrap it up in some cellophane, tied with a ribbon. If you really want to increase the delight factor here, order a mug that is 15oz in size. A regular coffee mug is usually 11oz and going up in the size is such a tiny detail that makes a huge difference. The luxuriousness of a large coffee mug can’t be beat - plus there will be more room for that photo!
A desk clean up session - Hear me out with this one. Whether it’s his home office or his desk at work. Surfaces can tend to get messy with papers everywhere or my personal nemesis, the business card collection that seems to grow by the second. It’s rare that my husband will have the time or attention to give to tidying up his office during the work week. My solution is to schedule some time where he and I can be together and I can help him do a quick tidy up of his work environment. Having a fresh perspective on the space means I can offer up some solutions for how to organize the business cards or even just make the task of tidying up more fun by being there with him. Turn on some music and bring snacks and keep it to no more than 45 minutes!
A Bible Verse Wall Art Print - since my husband was the one who came up with the idea of The Verse and he’s been asking for some to hang up in his office, this is a no brainer for me. I also love the idea of encouraging and strengthening his faith at work since it’s such a large part of his life and a place where he spends a lot of his time. Here would be my top choices for Bible Verses to gift him for Valentine's Day. Ones that I feel like would be perfect for his work space whether it's in his home office or at his desk at work.
